SPEEDWRAP® Brand Fire Retardant Ties, Rolls, and Reels are made from a combination of Polypropylene Hook and a chemically treated Nylon Loop that slows material burn - allowing it to meet the criteria of UL94-V2 Standards.
These hook & loop cable ties, cut-to-length tapes, and straps are ideal for dressing and managing copper and fiber cables in plenum-rated air spaces, in accordance with 300.22 (C) and (D) of the NEC (National Electric Code).
What does Fire Retardant Mean?
The FR rated straps, ties, and tapes offered by Speedtech meet the UL94-V2 and UL94-V0 criteria. These ratings are based on a burn test measured in seconds. The fire retardant material meets the following flammability tests:
- FAR 25.853 Appendix F, Part 1 (a) (1) (ii) 12 sec.
- FAR 25.853 Appendix F, Part 1 (a) (1) (i) 60 sec.
- and MVSS 302

Heat Resistant VELCRO® Brand Fasteners

What makes our Hook and Loop Ties Flame Retardant?
The Hook side is made of Polypropylene, and the Loop side has a Fire Retardant additive applied to the knitted Nylon.
Do the FR Rated Fasteners have to be a certain color?
The straps and tapes that meet the criteria for UL94-V2 are only Black and Maroon/Cranberry.
