With Velcro® Brand or Speedwrap® Brand, there are ways to maximize the strength of the strap bond. One way is to increase the area of the bond, e.g. the length and width of the strap where the hook and loop material is located.

Another is to design the strap so the forces are applied only in parallel to the plane of the fastener surface, e.g. by bending part of the strap around a corner or through a slot as with cinch straps. This reduces the force acting on the fastener by directing the force parallel to the plane of the fastener.
